Darwin Luxury Hotel A005

The Northern Territory has a well established reputation as a unique tourism destination centered on its extraordinary natural landscapes and rich multicultural influence. With its thriving economy and ongoing interest in the mining, oil and gas sector opportunities within the region, there has also been strong growth in the business travel sector. The Northern Territory Government is keen to address demand for a higher standard of accommodation in Darwin. Its vision is for a vibrant, integrated development of world class standard, which will deliver luxury accommodation and hospitality offerings not previously seen in Darwin, and drive long term business and luxury tourist visitation to the Northern Territory.

The hotel will be built at the Darwin Waterfront, on part of the land recently returned to the NT Government by Toga Group, and operated by Westin Hotels & Resorts.

Westin is the largest upscale hotel brand of the internationally recognised Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Construction is likely to commence in the second half of 2017, after usual development consent and approval processes have been obtained.

LIGA has consulted extensively with key stakeholders during the competitive process, including Deckchair Cinema. As part of the ongoing project development the public will have an opportunity to view and comment on the plans – this is a requirement of the development process.

LIGA is committed to engaging with local NT businesses to ensure that they are aware of, and can tender for, procurement opportunities during the construction and operational phases of the project.
