NRAS Hobart Apartments A007

The development is part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), which is a program jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian governments. Through NRAS, the University can support eligible residents in low- to middle-income brackets by offering them high quality apartments at a minimum of 20 per cent below market valuation rates.

The University’s National Rental Affordability Scheme apartments in the Hobart CBD will be located on the corner of Melville and Elizabeth streets, and behind existing heritage shops in Elizabeth Street, up to Brisbane Street. It will consist of 430 apartments, a University shop front, a cafe and a car park (which will include public car parking spaces).

The building has been designed by local architect Terroir and Melbourne’s Fender Katsalidis (the designers of MONA), which structural and civil engineers Gandy and Roberts, and building services engineers Engineering Solutions Tasmania. Construction is by Fairbrother.
